The glossarySeries A, B, C
Different rounds of funding a start-up typically has to go through to build and grow its business. Series A is usually the first round of funding that comes after the initial investment. Series B and Series C follows as the company meets its targets and try to scale up its operations. Not all companies complete the three series.
Anecdote
The amount of capital raised during the series varies and tends to increase as we go through successive rounds, but it very much depends on the company’s needs. In 2021, in the US, the average size was $25 million for series A, $33 million for Series B, and $59 million for Series C.
