Peg

The rate at which two currencies are exchanged is usually determined freely by the supply and demand. In some instances, a country can fix the value of its currency. The fixing is refered to as a “peg”.

Anecdote

The Swiss National Bank pegged its Swiss francs to the euro between September 2011 and 2015.
